I want to keep the gray streaks at my temples while considering a different shade for the surrounding hair. What I cannot picture is how a deeper surrounding shade would change the contrast around those streaks. Most edited examples I have seen recolor everything together, which removes the feature I want to compare. I found a reference for hair color try on and am wondering how others would make a comparison that keeps those gray sections visible. Is a clearly marked reference photo more useful here than a polished full head mockup? I could mark which areas should remain untouched and compare only two possible depths around them. I understand that an edited picture cannot establish how dye will behave on my current hair. What would make this reference clear enough to discuss without obscuring the gray I want to retain?
